Back from the quilter with a double layer of warm and natural batting, and a new frame around the edges, this quilt had its final steps done last night when I hand sewed the binding down on the back. Then I took it over to the laundromat, for a quick wash and dry because it just seemed a little bulky for my machine.
Result? Its perfect...I LOVE IT all over again.
Here it is in the morning light in its new home in my guest bedroom. Pillows omitted so you can see the whole thing. Plus, I want to find some lovely matching pillowcases. Maybe in that dark brown color. Or the medium kind of limey-green.
And here's the back. You can really see the excellent machine quilting when you look at the back. All the names that were signed into the orignal backing (which I canabalized so I the framing on the front would really match) made it onto that green strip right in the center. Thanks again to my maryland friends for such a wonderful heirloom. I miss you all, and hope you will come sleep under your quilt in my guest bedroom soon.
Bonus sock update:
I turned the heel of my second sock at the laundromat last night while waiting for the quilt to do its washing and drying.
These are for me and I love them already. Even though I am ready for a long and lovely summer, I look forward to wearing them this autumn! I didnt even have a scrap of yarn left from the first ball on the first sock, hopefully there will be enough yarn to finish this second sock in this second ball.
