I don't think about music that much, it's just there. Being taken for granted like an old friend you can always upon. Today I thought I'd do a totally rambling post about music. I think of these things when I am on a long drive, and run out of new audiobooks. So here we are...
I like folk music. I enjoy 80's music, and 90's pop. I love going to hear local bands. The musical stylings of my friend Jacob Haller (who just put out a new CD...check it out) always make me smile.
I just had an amazing roadtrip where my friend Jolene mixed it up on her ipod with a lot of classic jazz and blues, as well as some newer stuff. I loved it all - Jolene can be my dj anytime! (I'm still waiting for that "Roadtrip to Rhinebeck" mix I demanded Jolene! Something with the rollerskate song and a guy who just plays the bass - amazing!)
I like BNL, Cowboy Mouth, and for some reason lately: Train and Everclear. Paul Simon is a classic favorite...I always sing along. Ditto with older REM Albums. I don't love country music, but I find myself enjoying the classic storytellers like Kenny Rodgers, and thanks to an ex-bf who considered it road trip music know all the words to a bunch of Johnny Cash songs.
I like to work out listening to the Black Eyed Peas, and the more classic C&C Music Factory. I'm not above using a "Jock Jams" mix to stay motivated in the gym.
So by now, you can probably see, my musical tastes are pretty eclectic.
Lately, I have been into listening to what can best be described as "Dancehall Reggae" - mostly Shaggy and Sean Paul. So if you are a dancehall-reggae-fusion listener yourself, please save me from my only-mainstream-choices-that-once-got-airtime-on-pop-radio by suggesting some other musical choices for me.
What's your favorite music to listen to daily? What's your secret-music-guilty-pleasure?
**I'm traveling, so no pictures today, sorry.
