As you can see from the post below, I have not been doing too much actual knitting..or more of the projects would be done. This weekend I concentrated on some SEWING! (My sewing machine is finally fixed, and I am very excited about this!) Check out what I have been making:
The first item is the largest Knitting Needle case I have ever seen. I made it to the specifications of my aunt, with coordinating upholstery fabrics purchased at Walmart. I cant WAIT to see this full of her apparently GIANT needles. Seriously, for scale, that ottoman belongs to a "chair and a half." It is HUGE.
The rest of the items are project bags in various stages of completion. The pink one is done. It is for me, and is holding my secret knitting project. The yellow and blue sea scene one (one bag, two photos) is also completed. I liked the one I make for my KSKS Pal so much, I made one for myself with the leftover material. It even has the DPN Pocket inside, shown in the second picture. I love that the DPN's I use to finish up my socks (usually knit on addi turbo 12 inch circular needles) are not just floating around in the bottom of the bag anymore. I put one of my sock projects in this. The last picture is of three more Project bags. I cut out all the pieces, made the outsides and sewed in the zippers. Now I just have to sew them together! (Maybe tonight?) They are gifts.
All of the bags are sewn using the basic shape of bag C from Simplicity 5606 Fat Quarter Club Bags and Accessories Patterns. Very loosely. I use the inside shape and side, and sew it together my own way, with the outside altered to suit my design.
