Murphy and I discovered a wonderful place, only 25 minutes from our house on the way home from our camping trip this weekend. Quiet Waters Park and Dog Beach. Not only is there a terrific place for dogs to swim off leash, but they have a station to hose the salt off canines on the way out, so you only have a wet dog in your car, not a salty/itchy wet dog. We had tons of fun there with our human friend Amy, and our canine pal Jessy.
CASES!
A felted case for my pda! (It has snaps to keep it closed now.) And a few non-felted cases for assorted cell phones and MP3 players. These were all gifted to family and friends, although I showed them to a wonderful woman at Alchemy first, for consideration to be sold in her shop. Along with the cell phone cases, I showed her some of my anything bags, and assorted other knitting and sewing projects. I have decided to keep my leisure time leisurely, and NOT sell things in her store, but YOU should go there and buy stuff anyway, because she has a lot of great artists selling in there, including my dad's gorgeous handmade hardwood pens and earring holders (starting in august). And, I am still trying to work out the details to teach a knitting class there, so stay tuned!
Here they are, on their final trek to Assateague Island National Seashore. These lucky socks didnt get just a couple of hours of Trekking. They got a full 3 days and 2 nights camping vacation. The Murph and some other friends came along too!
What you see here is the genuine view from our campsite. How lucky were we? Since the trekking socks were completed, it gave me time to cast on some other socks. I was trying a new technique, the Magic Cast On for toe-up socks. After only 2 tries, I got it right. In the photos below, the lovely red and yellow shepherd sock yarn (color=flames) has little holes along the right edges, from my crappy ablilty to work a M1R for half of the cast on. It is newly frogged and now on its way to becoming a pair of RPM's. After I got the hang of it, I started these two socks on two circulars, with the new aloe and jojoba yarn by Austermann.
Well, I didnt.
I have just been busy.
I have been traveling.
and knitting.
and crafting.
and camping.
and trekking (more on that later tonight).
and kitting! My KSKS partner liked my kit. She is none other than country girl Becky.

I am such a joiner! Ashley did this quiz, so then I had to, too. Strangely, my city came up as Boston. This is a bit odd for 2 reasons. 1) I grew up in MA. 2) I have lived in the DC Metro Area for 13 years, and it is the only area I have lived in as an adult. Here it is:

Yes, we had a great vacation, thanks for asking. Along with an average of a 2 hour hike every morning, Murph also learned how to swim. (Well, he already knew, but he learned how to like it.)
