This weekend we camped on the Maryland/West Virginia border. We loved our facilities, but didnt love the campground staff...they were kind of odd. Hiking, Splashing in the shenandoah (Murphy's first swim), and cooking out were our main activities. Such a fun weekend was had by all...Including the dogs. These photos of two very tired pups were taken after Jessy, in photo 1, decided to take an adventure walk on her own, and dashed off of the appalacian trail where we were hiking and down the side ot the mountain. Photo 2 shows a very tired Murph, after her tracked her down, lead us to her, and brought us back to this spot on the trail, which he particularly liked, for its LARGE pile of dead leaves to romp in. As I said, a great time was had by all. Knitting was acomplished, but in a lazy, relaxing way, and there is nothing new to show.
I am now 31. Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

I got a swift to go with the ball winder. (Don't worry the layout has been reconfigured since this photo, I was just excited.)
Can't. Stop. Making. Center. Pull. Balls.
Soon I will be re-winding already wound balls.
In other news: 1 Lisa Sock down, 1 to go:
And, Here is a photo of the murph with a non-knitting birthday gift that he comandeered:

Debra Socks are completed. Naturally, Lisa socks are following quickly. (My aunts are twins, hence the name of the post.) I am knitting each of them a pair of summer socks in cool cotton/wool blends from Knit Picks.
In other news, my birthday is on Monday, and knitting themed gifts are already being sent by family members. I got two great books, and this:
As well as some other non-knitting related gifts, that although I truely love and appreciate, I am not going to gloat about in this venue.

I am not really a bird person.
I do, however, really love my pets.
If I lost one of them, I would want someone to try and find me.
To that end, I have called 6 area shelters - some close, some not so close. Hey, its a bird, it flew to get here. I have also posted on 5 different types of websites to report missing pets, and taken ads in area papers.
BUT...
I AM NOT KEEPING THE BIRD.
In fact, it has already traveled across the county to stay with my sister's wonderful Boyfriend. He is rescuing the bird from the cats, the cats and the dog from getting yelled at on behalf of the bird, and me from listening to and cleaning up after the bird. The bird is now named Mikey. That's right, boyfriend NAMED the bird. So, even though I have already found 3 homes for Mikey, for when we dont find its owner...I think my sister (pictured in the post below with Mikey) is going to be seeing a lot of that bird in the future. Congratulations on your new pet Garry. Better get his wings clipped.

The coolest thing about knitting, is that yesterday THIS:
These are "Ankle Socks for a Twin" made out of KnitPicks Dancing Yarn, a cotton wool blend for summer. I made them while vegging and watching bad movies.
The other excitement for yesterday was that when Jen and I were leaving the condo to take Murph for a walk at the park, we found someone's pet bird on our balcony. Although I am not overly fond of birds, our parents do have them as pets, and I am somewhat used to them. The bird was calling to us, so I put my hand out and called back, and long story short, it has now taken up residence in our bathroom to protect it from the cats. Here is a photo of Jen with our very temporary new friend. (We put up signs and called the Humane Society to see if anyone reported a missing bird, I will put an ad in the paper tomorrow.) In the meantime, he/she is a friendly addition to our house, if a little demanding. (Bird is friendly and really wants attention ALL the time.) Just in case we cannot find its owners, let us know if you would like a 9" green parrotlike creature, a little lacking in manners but VERY friendly.

My socks are from Canada! What could be cooler than that?
They are a great color of Trekking XXL and are knit SO NICELY by my sockpal Allison. And along with the socks and post card, she sent a green chibi (which actually matches the socks). It is so cute, and I don't have one, and I do have tapestry needles floating around in my knitting bag. So that makes it even better. Did I mention I really love my socks. I tried them on and they fit perfectly! (See photos below.) I wish I could declare I am never taking the socks off, but since the weather here has been of the shorts and sandals variety lately, I think I am going to have to save them for fall.
You should go check out Allison's Blog, not only because she is newly engaged and there is a cute photo of her with fiance, but because the motto across the top of her blog is GREAT. I am not going to tell you what it is, you will just have to visit to see for yourself. Thanks again Allison!

I finished off three projects last night.
These projects involved either crocheting or sewing, or both.
No pictures will be posted, as some of them are gifts for readers of this blog.
Priority Mail Packages have been sent.
Enjoy!
