I finished another pair of socks - and they're for ME!

Sarah Socks

I finished the Sarah Socks at knit night last night.
Before knit night - Knitting Arch and I went to a really yummy greek restaurant for dinner.
But I forgot to take pictures.

When I got home, I started a new sock that I intended to be plain for my trip next week.
Then I decided it would look really good in the Gentlemans Half Hose in Ringwood Pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks. The yarn is STR Mediumweight in colorway KawKaw.  Don't be upset that the pic is a little blurry, the color is correct, and its just the 2x2 ribbing:

Garden Update...

The secret project is coming along nicely.  I completed part 1 last night.

I also knit another repeat on the Sarah Socks last night - they look the same, so no new picture.

Today's Harvest

I harvested a couple of things from my garden today.  I have two types of cucumbers planted - the curvy ones are pretty small, but seem to be mature.  My summer and zucchini squash are rotting on the ends - so I picked this one small before it started.  And I think this is my ENTIRE green bean harvest - probably because I planted so late - thats right - 3 green beans!  I think I will chop them up and add them raw to a salad.

I (heart) Secret Crafting...

'Cause it means I'm making a cool present.  Sadly, it also means I have nothing to post on my blog.
Don't ask me what I'm making, cause I wont tell you.  I will SHOW it to you when I'm done though.

I did get a chance to do a little work on my second Sarah sock.  Here is is, with the heel all turned:

Weekend Review

The RI spinners guild had a meeting on Saturday, we had a fabulous time.  It was SO HOT, but we bbq'd and spun and knit anyway.  As usual, I forgot to take pictures, but here are some of the fruits of my labors:

Spinning from this weekend

I ended up with 308 yards of worsted/aran weight yarn in the colorway I have been working on this week to gift to my sister.  Dave helped me to temporarily tension my untensioned lazy kate with some sticks (awesome trick), and then Beth suggested that I could get some of the mini-hinges I described wanting in the dollhouse section of the craft store.  I did - and I think they are going to be perfect!  Beth is my hero, because she also showed me how she plys from both ends of the same center pull ball.  I immediately went home and cleaned off 4 bobbins that had leftovers on them. (Leftover mini-skeins pictured above!)  THANKS BETH!!

Saturday night, I went to see Mama Mia.  It was a really fun movie, and had the added bonus of being nice and cool in the theater.  While I was there, I knit on my test knit sock and finished the pair on Sunday:

Test Knit Socks

Sunday I headed to Cape Cod with a friend to go to the beach.  The weather was pretty crappy down there, so we went out to lunch at a restaurant on the water in Sandwich, and went shopping at this cool artists guild.  I managed to snag two christmas presents, and pick out one of my own for my mom to buy me. (She offered, I didn't ask.)  Now I really cant wait for christmas!

I also started a new Adamas shawl. I have two grandmas - and I am knitting this second shawl for my other grandma's birthday, since she seemed to like the first one I knit.  I specially ordered yarn in shades of rust from Blue Moon for her - and it is more orange than rust.  I hope she likes (second picture is a better show of the true color):

As it did last time, this pattern is knitting up quickly and enjoyably. I am sure I will be able to finish this project for her September birthday.

Wedding Socks COMPLETED...

It took me long enough, and enough false starts, but I finally finished the Gnu Wedding socks, only 9 months late.  So what do you do when you have FOUR matching socks?  Ask a friend with 4 feet to model them:

these wedding socks look DELICIOUS

Poor Murph.  He seems to still love me anyway.  Maybe I can get some better pics from the newly weds after I gift them.

Sock Stats:
Made for my sister and her hubby for their wedding first anniversary (Now they are 3 months early instead of 9 months late).
Yarn: 200 grams of Louet Gems
Color: dyed by me in sunshine yellow and turquoise over chartreuse for a really nice deep green
Pattern: Mad Color Weave
Notes: I decided on the mad color weave after a few tries of designing some socks of my own because I like the idea that they are weaving their lives together.  I used a bit of the contrasting color for the cast on and graft on the other persons socks as they are weaving their lives together but will remain separate people too.  Since they both already have a history of enjoying my handknit socks, hopefully they will enjoy these, dog fur and all.
